About Wim
The transformation
In 2015 I weighed 125 kilos. Type 2 diabetes, insulin-dependent. Three injections a day, a handful of pills, and a doctor who said it would only get worse.
Five months later I was 40 kilos lighter and medication-free. No surgery, no expensive program, no coaching. Just radically different choices, every single day.
That was more than 10 years ago. Still medication-free.
That experience changed everything. Not because losing weight is remarkable, but because the healthcare system had written me off. And that system writes off millions of people.
Je Leefstijl Als Medicijn
What started as a personal experience became a grassroots movement. In 2018 I founded Stichting Je Leefstijl Als Medicijn (JLAM) — “Your Lifestyle As Medicine.” The idea was simple: if I can do it, others can too. But not alone — together.
Today JLAM has more than 21,000 members in 13 online support groups. People with diabetes, obesity, cardiovascular disease, rheumatism, and other chronic conditions help each other. No medical supervision, but peer support — people who have been through it themselves.
The results were published in the BMJ (2025): average 7.3 kg weight loss and 9 cm waist circumference reduction among 232 participants with type 2 diabetes. Researchers from Leiden University Medical Center concluded that no comparable citizen initiative had ever reported such results.
That’s not marketing. That’s science saying: Smart Health Communities work.
690K website visits per year. 12 staff members, 59 volunteers. An organization that runs on conviction, not budget.
40 years of ICT
My first computer was a Commodore 64. My first real job was on an IBM System/36. In the 1980s I started my own ICT company: building PC clones and selling Exact Software. I know Exact literally from the very first day — when it was still delivered on floppy disks.
1992-1998: Co-founder of Abacus Maroc SA, the official Exact Software distributor for Morocco. Clients like Siemens, L’Oreal, and Royal Air Maroc. Setting up a Dutch software company in Casablanca in the 1990s, without internet — that was a masterclass in improvisation.
1998-2002: Country Manager Exact Software Maroc SA. Exact took over distribution, I stayed as Country Manager. The transition from entrepreneur to corporate was educational, but not my world.
2002-2006: Senior Consultant at Ask IT, later VCD IT Groep. ERP implementations for mid-sized companies. Translating the complexity of business processes into working software.
Then came years of other projects, until 2015 changed everything.
AI as accelerator
Since 2025 I work AI-first. Not as a buzzword, but as a methodology.
Payload CMS migration: Built a complete CMS for JLAM in 78 days. 863 commits, 75.8% AI-coded, 11.1 commits per day. Replaced WordPress with 60 plugins by a headless CMS that is faster, more secure, and cheaper.
Odoo ERP: Late 2025, with zero Odoo knowledge, I set up a complete ERP system for JLAM’s accounting and CRM. AI as co-developer made it possible to do in weeks what traditional consultants charge months for.
BrainBoard: 20 AI agents auditing your organization in parallel. CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, CISO — each with their own expertise. 13 actionable findings in 5 minutes. Governance built in from day one.
Lampie: A medical AI chatbot that has answered 12,862+ lifestyle health questions with 96% reliability. Live at Elkerliek Hospital, 7 hospitals in the pipeline.
AI is not a threat. It’s an accelerator — provided you build in governance and know what you’re doing.
Not forgetting the human
In the age of AI, the human must not be forgotten.
Since December 2025 I am a board member of the International Sufi Movement. Universal Sufism is not a religion — it is a philosophy that seeks the essence behind all phenomena. That search for meaning runs as a thread through everything I do.
Kamal is my digital twin. An AI agent built on Claude that manages my email, WhatsApp, Telegram and calendar. The name means “perfection through integration” — technology and humanity coming together rather than colliding.
